Kool Deadwood Nites weekend in Deadwood, is a four day event where they bring in over 500 old restored cars and several 50’s and 60’s rock and roll bands for entertainment. They close off main street and set up lawn chairs for the free concerts. Last year over 60,000 people came for the festivities. Deadwood is a gambling town filled with casinos and restaurants. When the leaves on the trees begin to turn colors, it is a sure sign that the Deadwood Oktoberfest is near at hand. In the beginning of October, the little historic western town of Deadwood, South Dakota offers fabulous German music, huge heated beer tents right on Main Street, a German food cook-off, free food and free concerts by some of the best polka stars around.

Even though the weather can be chilly in Deadwood in early October, the temperature is always warm in the tents. Having the celebration in heated tents on Main Street allows the participants to enjoy the flavor not only of the food and beverages, but also of the town itself.
