Great stay!
Reviewed on 2024-08-28 by , Sioux Falls, SD United StatesThe house was perfect for our group of eight. The kids absolutely loved the bunkbeds. The house was very clean and stocked well with towels, comfy pillows, and nice blankets. We woke up to deer outside almost every morning. Very comfortable stay here! My only recommendation would be to maybe install some blinds in the bedrooms and bathrooms. It felt strange not to be able to close blinds while sleeping or changing. Definitely would recommend staying here, though, we had a great stay!

Reviewed on 2024-07-16 by , Laurel, NE USOur vacation experience was wonderful. The cabin and location were beautiful. Every day we could watch wildlife while sitting on our deck. The cabin was decorated beautifully and we had plenty of bedding, towels and dishes....everything we needed on our visit. A few things could use some attention. The grill was hard to start and needed a good clean. The kitchen faucet was very touchy and at one point didn't work. The towel rack in the basement bathroom was about to fall off the wall. Just a few TLC things would make it perfect!! We had a great time and would highly recommend Moonlight Ridge to friends and family!

Gas fireplace also has a few quirks, but no big issues with the property overall, clean and well kept and a good property for multiple couples and kids.

Beautiful Location
Reviewed on 2023-03-23 by , Ellsworth, MN United States1) If you're going with a big group, be aware that it's not terribly well stocked. There would definitely not be enough plates, glasses etc. for a larger group of people. It was just my husband and I so it worked fine for us.
2) Overall the house was clean and relatively well-kept. There were some minor maintenance things, specifically in the kitchen area/sink that could be addressed (the disposal didn't work and the drain plugs don't hold water because they're so worn out), but they weren't deal breakers for us.
3) There are no curtains anywhere, and there are houses within viewing distance of the loft bedroom, specifically. (Not to mention we really wanted to sleep in on our break from "real life" so a little darkness would have been really nice to allow that to happen)
4) It had just snowed and the driveway is quite steep - we were told we'd need AWD/4WD so we were prepared, but again, something to be aware of.
Overall we enjoyed our stay and would absolutely stay here again, but there are a few minor things that could take this house from good to AMAZING without much effort. :-)
We really enjoyed our stay. The cabin is very pretty with a great, fairly secluded location south of Lead. A wonderful Christmas getaway!
Reviewed on 2022-12-28 by , Pierre, SD United StatesMy family had a wonderful time at this cabin during the Christmas weekend. We were a little concerned about us making it there as Lead received 3ft of snow prior to us coming. We had nothing to worry about as the roads were nicely plowed when we arrived. The cabin had a secluded feeling (which we love) as you couldn’t really see other cabins by looking out the windows. The kitchen was great! It was well stocked and had everything we needed to cook our Christmas dinner. Everyone loved the hot tub and the beds were very comfy as well. As I mentioned earlier, Lead had just gotten 3ft of snow so I am glad we brought our shovel as all the decks had snow on them. We had a great Christmas here and will definitely do it again!

There were just a couple things someone staying here might want to know. There wasn't much of a yard, and the driveway was very steep. The road to get to the cabin is full of potholes, but for us it added to the adventure. We also had a couple squashed toes from the chairs on the deck - beware! ATVing in the Black Hills
Reviewed on 2019-08-31 by Michael J. , Oakdale, MN United StatesThe local law enforcement is very accommodating to ATVers. We made sure the kids had helmets and rode through the middle of town and on every road that would get you heavily fined and machines confiscated in most other states.
SD Black Hills is a freedom zone!
The (not really that) bad
The driveway is a steep dirt with a washout down the middle that was a bit daunting to pull my loaded 30 foot trailer up. Once at the top there was enough space next to the garage to tuck it in out of the way.
The master bathroom is the same as the guest bathroom on the main floor. There are 2 doors, one off the master bedroom and one off the main floor. Each time you go in, you have to close and lock both doors or risk surprising your guests. No biggie.
The property is premium. My wife is picky and she was happy with the whole experience. We were in SD with friends who were staying at the nearby campgrounds which made it convenient to get together before heading out on the trails. The garage was perfect to secure the ATVs while sight seeing in the truck. There is also a hose conveniently near the driveway to allow rinsing off the majority of the mud so we could start with relatively clean machines each day. There were two extra beds in the closet upstairs in case you needed extra sleeping space. We didn't need them but nice to know it was there.

The local law enforcement is very accommodating to ATVers. Reviewed on 2019-04-15 by , Bismarck, ND USOverall this was a very great place to stay. We had a total of nine people, which worked out great. It was a little rough getting into the place, the main road coming off the black top had a lot of ruts and holes, (just take it easy coming in) but this was due to the melt. If the fire place was on, it would freeze out the downstairs since there is only one zone in the house. There could have been more towels, I think there was a total of eight. It would have been nice to have some towels for the hot tub. Another plus was being able to park in the garage.
