Description

When you think of a staying in a cabin, Bobcat Retreat is probably that cabin you dream of. This 1200 square foot A Frame cabin is perfectly located near Deer Mountain with amazing access to the local ATV/Snowmobile trails and the local Mickelson trail!! It boasts a wood-burning fireplace, private deck with hot tub to a private forest view! You're only 5 minutes to the rim-rock canyon walls and waterfalls of Spearfish Canyon, or 15 minutes from Deadwood with taxi service! You can also be enjoying Mount Rushmore, Custer State Park, Keystone and more attractions in about an hours drive!

The open layout of the A frame cabin is perfect to enjoy some time with your comrades. The cabin can sleep up to 6 in total - queen bed located in the loft, a queen bed in the main floor bedroom, and a futon in the cabin as well. Whether in the area to enjoy the local trail adventures, or just some rest and relaxation, Bobcat Retreat will fulfill your vacation needs. We welcome you on your next Black Hills trip!

My wife and I have stayed in this rental before. It is a small rental with a small bedroom and a bed in the loft. We had another couple join us last minute so we stayed in the loft and gave them the bedroom downstairs. Loft is not terrible. I am 6'2" and managed fine. Queen bed worked for the time there. Steps are plenty steep but just take your time using them and you will be fine. Rental was clean and everything worked as it should. It suited our needs for the 3 nights we were there.

We enjoyed our short stay here. We were to stay Monday through Friday but unfortunately we had to leave on Tuesday early afternoon. Our daughter had a stroke while on a business trip and we had to leave. The cabin was very nice and we would stay again sometime. I let the caretaker know we were leaving and she said she would notify Buddy, I was a little disappointed that I didn’t receive a follow up email.

Highly recommend this rental property for a relaxing weekend in the woods with many activities readily available nearby. Scenic drive through Spearfish Canyon, trails to hike, waterfalls to enjoy along with equipment rentals for UTV and Snowmobile as well as Terry Peak Ski area all within minutes from the cabin. We loved the cozy atmosphere with many amenities such as a kitchen area with plenty of dishes, appliances, and everything you need (bring your own food but everything you need to prepare it with is there); a comfy couch with Dish Satellite TV; a huge beautiful log-style dining table; washer/dryer available; wood burning stove; and a fabulous loft bedroom with a very comfortable bed. BEWARE OF THE STAIRS! The stairs to the loft are very steep, very narrow, and according to the guest book they have been fallen down many times! Also according to the guest book, the bricks around the wood stove have caused many a stubbed toe so be aware especially on your first trip into the living room!
The best feature by far is the Fabulous Hot Tub!!!! It was simply amazing to soak outside, under the stars, in the near privacy (neighbors are far enough away to feel secluded) of this lovely cabin in the woods. We also enjoyed watching the deer graze their way through the trees just a few yards from the cabin. A beautiful place to stay and wonderful people to work with for reservations and follow-up. We accidentally left an item, and they worked with us for its return. Highly recommend Black Hills Adventure Properties!!!

It was everything I imagined me my wife loved the place we would of wanted to stay longer but we only had one week vacation the area it's beautiful we love the forest we enjoyed the hot tub very much the only thing was we couldn't use the grill it was to cold for propane to work but we cooked inside fireplace was great it was quite a experience I recommend this beautiful cozy cabin we were close to ATV rentals had lots of fun riding them on the mountain hope we can visit soon again The Benavidez family from Donna.Tx

We had a great overall stay and the 5 stars in every questions shows that. The table was large enough to seat 10 people.
With that said, people should know that the stairs to the loft are extremely steep. It was no problem for our teenage boys to navigate them although my wife didn't want to risk falling so we slept in the other bedroom. The hot tub was broken for most of our stay but was fixed and warm enough to use on our last night. The tub breaking is out of anyones control and the host communicated that. We were just bummed because that was a big part of why we picked this property. We did enjoy the tub once we were able to use it.

The property was exactly as pictured, down to the gentle dusting of snow! It was clean and well-maintained. We would 100% recommend to a friend. We went snowboarding at Terry Peak, but stayed put and just enjoyed the scenery and solitude the rest of the time. Would go back in a heartbeat.

My family of 5 stayed here. We had a great time. It was clean. The first couple nights were warm with no AC. We’re hot sleepers. One of the mornings was nice and cool so we opened the doors and cooled the house down. It was great after that.

We went to a wedding in the area. We stayed at the cabin and had a great time. Our grandson loved the woods and deer. It was close to Lead and Deadwood. Perfect trip. The whole family loved it.

Bobcat Retreat was a very welcome trip for my wife and I. Great location in the Hills for a weekend of snowshoeing and then recovery in the hot tub. Spearfish Canyon and Eagle Creek trails are very close, for those looking for hiking and outdoors activities.

The kitchen was well stocked, the grill was in fine order. The "neighborhood" seemed pretty quiet and allowed us plenty of opportunity to read by the fire.

Although a little far from the main South Dakota attractions like Badlands, Mount Rushmore and Custer State Park, this little A Frame was a nice place to stay. In a quiet setting with a great hot tub. The stairs to the loft can be a little tricky as they are very steep and narrow. We didn't take any of our luggage up there. The only thing missing is a hair dryer!

My girlfriend and I decided to use this place as a weekend getaway before finals week in college to relax and unwind a little. The location was nice and secluded, very clean, and very relaxing.

The only issue we ran into was the hot tub wasn't working when we got there, but the owner was very timely and helpful in getting someone to come out and fix it so we could still use it before we left.

Overall the weekend was amazing, we wish we had discovered this place earlier because we would have rented this cabin out a few more times!

It was nice to have a home away from home. Came for a girls getaway weekend and already planning to come back next year to stay! Enjoyed being able to watch the deer from the hot tub. Enjoyed being able to go to hill city for wine and food then to Deadwood for shopping in the afternoon and still be in good distance to our cabin.

We had a fabulous time side by siding in the Black Hills but it was a highlight of our vacation coming back to such a welcoming, quaint, extremely clean cabin. The whirlpool was a fantastic treat after 6 hours in the hills and the laundry facilities were a lifesaver! Another feature that we didn’t expect was a fully stocked kitchen with everything, minus the food, you would ever need!!! Thank you for such a wonderful experience! We will be back!!

It was great! Everything we could have possibly needed was there. Very comfortable and relaxing. Would rent again. The only negative I can think of is the shower stall is.....very....small. Barely enough room to turn around in. Not a show stopper though.

Location off this place is very hard to beat. You will be pleased with any direction your vehicle or legs can take you. First day you may be frustrated with WiFi ,it is hard to get service anywhere in mountains but really is not big deal.This place had everything our family needed it’s cozy, clean and even gives little privacy .Great value, we stayed in few different places in area ,payed more got less.Would absolutely come back to this one

Very comfortable place, nice setting and nicely decorated! The kitchen was very well stocked with pots n pans etc. The only negatives... and quite minor was that you could hear the traffic on the busy road nearby and the coffee pot did not work. Would like to stay again for sure!

The cabin was perfect for our relaxing honeymoon experience, and time away from home. The cabin was cozy, clean and complete with a hot tub! We brought a lot of our own food to cook and the kitchen was fully stocked with pans, utensils, spices, and even crockpots! There was a fully ready bathroom with towels for a large crew, and even shampoos, conditioner, and body soap. The location is great for trails and for the entertainment of downtown Deadwood. We did lots of drives around the scenic area and it sure is beautiful. We will definitely be coming back!

Really cute, rustic cabin! 4 of us stayed here but I think it coukd easily hold 6 to 8 people comfortably. Within an hour from mt rushmore, 10 min from spearfish falls! We will definitely stay again someday

The cabin worked well for my husband, myself, & teenage grandaughter. Kitchen has everything needed to prepare meals & many staple items for baking was there. We enjoyed the log dinning table, plenty of room for games & puzzles.
While the satellite wasn’t working our first night, Budi took care of the problem the next day. We enjoyed sitting on the deck watching the deer graze.
My suggestions would be this bring your blow dryer, realize steps to the loft are steep. Even though, there is no AC & it was warmer at night, we stayed comfortable for sleeping.

The Bobcat Retreat was a perfect choice for our SD adventure. It’s located in a cabin subdivision but we still had lots of privacy and room for our trailer. It was clean and well stocked (coffee, filters, laundry detergent, dishwasher pods, etc). The kitchen has everything you need and the hot tub is fabulous. The bathroom is small and the stairs to the loft are steep but we made it work. We had a little issue getting the hot tub started but the manager responded via text and solved the problem quickly. I would definitely recommend this cabin.

We had a great time! The cabin was cozy and clean and decorated nice. The location was wonderful for 4-wheeling as Rec Springs is right across the street and they are great! My only complaint was that the shower was a little tricky.....I had a hard time finding the hot water.

We had a great time at the Bobcat. Lots of little details made this a great time, including the stocked kitchen, the fireplace, the puzzles and games on hand, the rustic wood furniture and decorations and the cool deck lighting. The big highlight is soaking in the hot tub while watching wildlife. Here are some things I would tell future guests:
-No Wifi, plan your data needs accordingly. I actually worked a little from the Lead library. Great folks/setup there, recommended if you need a place to connect.
-Review what is on hand in the kitchen before going to the grocery story. You will find that you need less than you think.
-It takes some time to get to Rushmore/Custer/other tourist destinations besides Deadwood and Sturgis. I loved the scenic drive, so it was fine for me.

Very clean and comfortable and relaxing for Our Family of 5. Nice quiet peaceful place to end your day after sight seeing and doing all the area has to offer. The kids really loved the hot tub. Definitely would recommend to any one!

My wife and I spent three nights at Bobcat Retreat in Sept. of 2017. We had a great time the cabin was cozy and very well kept. It was in a good location in the hills with a short drive on gravel (about 2/10s of a mile. The hot tub in the evenings and early mornings was a great way to start and end the day.

A mom and daughter girls trip was accomplished thanks to this cozy little cabin hidden in the woods. The hot tub was a perfect touch to long days spent exploring the area. The drive into Lead and Deadwood wasn't too far, it was a gorgeous drive any direction you traveled. Loved eating at the Cheyenne Crossing, great food and awesome staff. Also enjoyed exploring the history of Lead. Did some shopping in Deadwood - vintage jewels, boutiques and lots of coffee over the course of the weekend. It was a perk that the cabin had left over K-Cups for coffee every morning - this allowed us to take advantage of the porch. We woke every morning to the sunrise on the deck and sipped our coffee! I loved this cabin, it was so serene when sitting on the deck. Saw some deer while sitting in the hot tub. Cute cabin decorations, making it feel very cozy. I hope to come back! Thanks mom for the awesome trip! I love you.

We absolutely loved this cabin and everything it had to offer. It was cozy, comfortable, and clean. We enjoyed the hot tub, the deer and turkeys that walked around nearby, and the peace and quiet. We highly recommend to anyone looking to get away!

This cabin was extremely clean and nice to stay in! Would definetly stay there again. However, the batteries in the thermostat died in the middle of night and there were no other batteries in the house, so it was freezing and we had to drive into town to buy some /:

I would recommend The BearCat Cabin To anyone and everyone! our stay For the 2 days was absolutely perfect. The owners of this beautiful cabin made our stay an absolute treat. The cabin was perfect and it was very well kept. great location! The owners Have thought of everything that could Make the stay perfect and the cabin cozy and makes you feel like you are at home! We were second guessing our logic when we decided to stay at a "cabin" to combat cabin fever. But we have no regrets. This property was wonderful! Location has that secluded private feel, even though other properties are in the area. Site has great access to the Highway to get to Skiing, Deadwood, Lead, and of course Cheyenne Crossing (Great Food). The Cabin was very clean, has modern conveniences and is wonderfully supplied. Kitchen utensils and cookware were perfect for our use. We set puzzles, played cards, and games we found on the shelf. Used the Hot tub and fireplace. We mostly just relaxed and had a great time. We were secretly hoping the snow storm would make us snow bound for a couple extra days, but the storm track by passed the area. Budi was great to work with when we were deciding if we might need to stay an extra day because of road conditions back to Bismarck. Thanks for the exceptional stay and experience. We hope to come back again.

We spent a long weekend in the Black Hills at the Bobcat Retreat to celebrate our first wedding anniversary. We had a wonderful time, there were a few inches of fresh snow to make the views even better! The cabin was very clean and smelled fresh and inviting.
